We found this machine very interesting when we were walking around westlake in Hangzhou. So tend to come up with an installation work from this. Around 2 years ago, when we (Ding and Shang) came back from Europe. Found it's such a big difference and shock between the two society, China and Europe. Although they both got very strong cultrual and long history. But in the contemporary society, we found that, China is under a very fast changing pattern, which means it is full of opptunity but also with keen competition .
The machine just can represent China's current situation. The background music is a classical one but wich have a hurried temple. Just like saying " Come to give me money". In a long period from our observation, no any player can get one doll succesfully. The dolls, the merchandise inside, are all from very famous cartoon charecters in the world--Winnie the pooh, Hello Kitty etc. But unfortunately all of them are Shan Zai (Chinese pronouncation, which means copycatting).
We hope made in China could become design in China in the not far away future.
